Grangefields Wedding Photography

Surrounded by the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, Grangefields wedding venue is the latest in a collection of stunning barn wedding venues by Cripps & Co. Grangefields is the perfect setting for your wedding and you'll be spoiled for choice with locations for your wedding photos. As part of the historic Trusley Estate, it's surrounded by scenic locations for wedding portraits.

I have photographed numerous weddings at the other local Cripps & Co wedding venue in Nottinghamshire, Hazel Gap Barn, and knew that I could expect very high standards from their latest offering at Grangefields.

I've put this page together to share some tips and insights to give you some ideas and inspiration for your Grangefields wedding.

Huge thanks to Jessica and Marcus for choosing me to be their Grangefields wedding photographer on this occasion.

Twig & Vine Photography

My approach to wedding photography is documentary with some elements of editorial fashion. One thing is for sure, you’ll never catch me asking you to do a fake laugh or put you into awkward poses.

Hey, I'm Mamad! I'm a Wedding and Portrait photographer with an alternative approach, based between Derby and Nottingham. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Photography and have been shooting weddings for over 16 years, and was a portrait photographer long before that.

Laid back, honest, raw and natural. These are just a few words I would use to describe my photography.

My work is about telling the authentic story of your day, whilst capturing the excitement, the surprising moments, the unplanned, and very importantly, the parts that you may not even remember. Overall I plan to deliver the best client experience possible.

5 Reasons to Choose Grangefields for Your Wedding

Picturesque Wedding Ceremony Room

The space where you'll exchange your vows is a stunning space, bathed in natural light with timeless exposed brickwork. There are also candle lit chandeliers that create an incredible atmosphere. Perfect for wedding photos that will capture natural moments as you exchange wedding rings.

Sheltered Courtyard

The courtyard area is partially covered, great for if the weather is not ideal. It has fire pits not only to keep you warm in evening, but also to roast your marshmallows over. This is a great space to enjoy your post wedding drinks reception. During this time, I'll be photographing you and your guests in an unobtrusive way, capturing lots of candid moments whilst you both relax and enjoy your wedding day. There's plenty of space here, so you'll barely notice I'm there!

Another great idea to use this space for, is for sparklers. They can be easily lit from the fire pits and there is plenty of room to either have a tunnel of guests to walk through or even a stationary shot with everyone surrounding you two with their sparklers.

Venue Space

I would have to say that Grangefields offers an enormous amount of space for you and your guests. There is the Oak ceremony barn, where you will tie the knot. The dining room, where you will have your wedding breakfast and speeches. The reception room is right next to the oak ceremony room. Your wedding cake will be in here ready for cutting of the cake, right before you go into your first dance. There is also enough space there for a Photo Booth at one end.

Although the wedding I photographed had the ceremony in the Oak Room, I am told that there is also possibility of having it outdoors. I would love to photograph that too, as I'm sure that would look amazing.

If you are planning a church ceremony before having your reception at Grangefields, you could consider one of the stunning local churches, Long Lane - Christ Church & Trusley - All Saints.

Sunset Wedding Portraits

If you've dreamed of having beautiful wedding portraits at sunset on your wedding day, Grangefields is the perfect location. I love to take my couples out for a walk along the picturesque drive that leads to the venue, as this is where the sun sets in the evenings. I haven't yet had a chance to take couples portraits in the surrounding fields, however, I would be super excited to be able to do this on my next wedding.

Amazing Food

I was lucky enough to witness an outdoor bbq in the courtyard, or "Argentinian Asado" as they call it. Not only does it make an awesome wedding breakfast for you, but is also very entertaining to be able to watch the chefs at work.

In the dining room, there is a bar at one end and the kitchen at the other. To add to the entertainment, the kitchen area, with it's huge pizza oven, is visible from the wedding breakfast room through a huge glass wall, so you can see your entire meal being prepared for you.
