I had the pleasure of being honoured with Clare and Paul’s wedding photography at Swancar Farm Country House in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside. This has got to be one of the most relaxed weddings I have photographed in Nottingham in recent years. Both the venue with its friendly staff and also Clare and Paul themselves were so down to earth and laid back that the whole atmosphere on the day was one of pure joy and happiness, just as it should be. Clare and Paul make such a fairy tail couple that it made my job of capturing those “real emotions” and “moments”so much easier.
Clare and Paul met at the Nottingham Climbing Centre and their first date was a mountain biking trip to Wales. A couple of years and many bike trails later they decided to get married. They wanted a civil wedding so they were looking for a venue where they could have both the ceremony and reception in one place. When they saw Swancar Farm Country House they knew it was the place.
They married in January and the day was perfect, with beautiful blue skies. Swancar looked stunning standing proud of the snow covered fields. They walked up the aisle together to Love Is In The Air. They both said they were a little nervous, but the ceremony went without a hitch. The Barn at Swancar was perfect, large enough for all of their family and friends but small enough to still be intimate. their friends contributed with readings and music and everyone commented on what a lovely ceremony it had been. Clare said that was her favourite part of the day.
I took a few photographs in the courtyard and some shots of the two of them in the snow, but I only took a few group shots as they’d asked me to capture the day with more natural pictures of their guests at the venue. After photos it was back into the warm for some canapés and to mingle with their friends. The wedding breakfast was excellent with delicious food and superb service from the Swancar staff. Their wedding cake from M&S was decorated by Clare and her mum on the morning of the wedding with ribbon and fresh flowers to match their colours and was served after the buffet in the evening.
“Our day was fantastic. We wouldn’t have changed a thing.” said Clare after the wedding.
Here are some photos from the day…
